Pindul cave
Pindul Cave ( Javanese : ꦒꦸꦮꦥꦶꦤ꧀ꦢꦸꦭ꧀ , translit. Guwa Pindul ) is a tourist attraction in the form of a cave located in Bejiharjo Village , Karangmojo District , Gunungkidul Regency.
Pindul Cave is known for the way to explore the cave which is done by riding a tire on the underground river flow in the cave, this activity is known as cave tubing .
The underground river flow starts from the mouth of the cave to the end of the cave, inside the cave there is a narrow section that can only be passed by one tire, so usually tourists will take turns one by one to pass through this section. [ 3 ] The length of Pindul Cave is 350 meters with a width of 5 meters and the distance between the water surface and the roof of the cave is 4 meters. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Exploring Pindul Cave takes approximately one hour which ends at a dam . [ 4 ] The river flow in Pindul Cave comes from the Gedong Tujuh spring . [ 4 ] The Pindul Cave tourist attraction was inaugurated on October 10 , 2010.
TourBejiharjo Village is located in a karst hill area so it is dominated by rocks. [ 6 ] Pindul Cave can be reached from the city of Yogyakarta using private vehicles such as motorbikes or cars via Wonosari road, located about 7 km to the north of Wonosari city, after entering Bejiharjo Village, the journey continues following the asphalt road. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] The location of the Pindul Cave secretariat is at the end of the road.
Exploring inside the cave will find stalactite rock formations , which are a type of secondary mineral that hangs from the ceiling of the limestone cave. [ 7 ] There are even stalactites that have grown to the bottom and become like pillars. [ 6 ] Some karst rocks are still alive and dripping water. [ 8 ] Pindul Cave is divided into three zones, namely bright, dim and dark zones.
One part of Pindul Cave has a place that is wide enough so that it looks like a pool and there is a gap that is wide enough for sunlight to enter. [ 5 ] This gap can also be passed as an entrance by entering the cave vertically. [ 5 ] Tourist attractions around Pindul Cave include Gelatik Cave (dry cave), a monument left behind by General Soedirman , and the Sokoliman archaeological site.
LegendThe legend of the naming of Pindul Cave which is believed and told by the local community comes from the story of Joko Singlulung's journey who explored dense forests, rivers, and caves to find his father.

While exploring 7 caves that had rivers flowing underneath, Joko's head hit a fault rock in the cave. [ 5 ] The cave where Joko hit it was named Pindul Cave which comes from the Javanese word pipi gebendul which means cheek that was hit.
